Sasssafras Vitrolica
The name my mom (and then later my husband) gave me is actually
Samantha Villenave. Sasssafras Vitrolica is the name I gave to my
creative self. I was born in Alaska, and raised in Texas. I have also
lived in Switzerland, The Netherlands and India. I have a passion for
languages and different cultures, and have travelled extensively
throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Since 2002, I have been
living a frightening quiet life in the Ardèche region of southernish
France.
I do not have formal training in art. Some techniques have been
gleaned from informal classes, and others from time spent in solitude
in front of a canvas. I paint to fill the space that I do not know how
to put words into. I love the language of color and light, and the
happiness it has brought into my life since beginning to speak through
it.
